Maternal Newborn Child Health
NFSS partnered with Humanity and Inclusion, ANDY, and Light and Hope to implement a Maternal Newborn Child Health (MNCH) project funded by the European Union. The project aims to empower civil society, government institutions, and partners to promote disability-friendly mother and child health services.
According to the Kenya National Survey on People with Disabilities (KNSPWD, 2008), one-third of women with disabilities have difficulties accessing health information and services, and 47.1% of females with disabilities face challenges in accessing health services.
Our main achievements include:
- Supporting 21 women with disabilities to deliver safely
- Providing assistive devices to over 200 children
- Referring over 2,000 children with stunted growth for nutritional services
- Training 400 community health volunteers on disability mainstreaming
- Raising awareness about MNCH to over 10,000 community members
